A galaxy in near ruins at the end of a civil war. An empire on the run. Their queen trapped behind enemy lines, stranded on the other side of the galaxy.
First Guard has protected the monarchy for hundreds of years. Colonel Matthew Navarre leads a team of genetically enhanced soldiers called Alpha Squad who are tasked with the protection of the crown.
The Confederacy will stop at nothing to apprehend or eliminate the queen and her family. If the empire is to survive, Navarre and Alpha Squad must find a way to get the queen, and her children home safely.
At home, Fleet Admiral Hawkins is working hard, trying to find a way to stabilize the new government and protect the crown from rivals in the absence of the queen.

Just when the fighting has ended and the Empire is tending to all those rescued from Oberahn, some surprising guests show up at the border. It seems the example the new queen and her Ring of Fire are setting is making a difference back home.
The Empire is still recovering from the war, and now their resources have been stretched even more with the refugees from Oberahn, and they’ve barely gotten back on their feet. The demands on them are greater than ever.
